Cheryl Harmon

 

Dr. CHERYL HARMON is an experienced educator and program leader with a strong background in curriculum development, team development, and educational leadership. With over twenty-five years in the field, Cheryl has honed her expertise in managing and overseeing curriculum, instruction, and assessment development across multiple contexts and content areas including leading the development of the K-5 ELA culturally responsive curriculum for Chicago Public Schools which has recently been Ranked First in Post-Pandemic Reading Gains Among Large Urban Districts.

She holds a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) in Educational Leadership, a Master of Education (MaEd.) in Curriculum and Instruction, and dual Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees in English and Educational Studies. Cheryl's professional journey includes roles at prominent organizations such as CenterPoint Education Solutions, where she serves as Chief Academic Officer, leading strategic planning and innovation efforts. Prior to this role, she held positions at The College Board, where she played a pivotal role in developing and managing instructional design and professional learning for Advanced Placement courses. Cheryl's teaching experience spans various educational settings and has provided her with the opportunities to see and develop the learning potential of traditional and non-traditional students. Her passion for education is evident in her commitment to developing identity-affirming learning opportunities for students and fostering effective student-teacher relationships.
