Melane Thomas

 

As the Director of School Counseling at Maloney High School, MELANE THOMAS oversees the School Counseling Department as she, along with  her team of school counselors support students as they navigate high school and ultimately graduate with a postsecondary plan that they are happy to pursue. In order to help students reach their goals, the Maloney School Counseling Program is comprehensive in nature and incorporates individual, group, and classroom counseling methods focused on three primary domains: Academic, Social/Emotional, and College/Career.

Prior to starting at Maloney in July 2023, Melane served as Department Supervisor of School Counseling in West Hartford Public Schools in which she managed the counseling departments at the two large comprehensive high schools in the district. Melane has spent the bulk of her Career as a School Counselor in Manchester Public Schools (2013-2021)  before earning her Administrator Certification in May 2021. No matter where Melane is or what title she has held , she always puts students in the center of her practice.

Melane earned her B.A. in Human Development and Family Studies, M.A. in Educational Psychology, and her 092 Certification in Educational leadership from the University of Connecticut.
